The Engineering Librarys collections primarily
support the research and teaching of the schools and departments in the
College of Engineering. These include applied and engineering physics,
civil and environmental engineering, chemical engineering, computer science,
electrical engineering and computer engineering, geological sciences,
materials science and engineering, operations research and industrial
engineering, and theoretical and applied mechanics.
The library has more than 100 public microcomputers managed
by ACCEL (the Academic Computing Center in the Engineering Library) that
provide access to local educational materials and Internet-accessible
resources. Some of the microcomputers are reserved for instructional purposes
at scheduled times. ACCEL also provides a wireless network for users with
laptops, and loans out wireless cards for users who need them.
The Engineering Library houses an extensive microfiche
collection of government-sponsored research, development, and engineering
reports. Since 1978 the library has received nearly all such reports issued
by the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency. |
