The Olin, Kroch & Uris Library Orientation Tours are designed to introduce new members of the Cornell community to the three libraries along the south side of Cornell’s Arts Quad at the heart of central campus. Together, those three libraries contain 3.5 million volumes—almost half of the Cornell University Library’s physical collections, and some of its most unusual and valuable books and manuscripts. These tours provide an introduction to the collections and guide you through the buildings so that you can make the most of the libraries and their services.
Kicking off the Cornell University Library Historical Tours is an introduction to Cornell's oldest library – Uris Library. Built in 1891, elements of the university’s history are preserved in the architecture and art work that fills Uris. Five individual podcasts focus on the Library’s history and showcase its noteworthy architecture, collections and artwork. The Uris Historical podcasts highlight the Dean Room, the Class of 1957 - Kinkeldey Room, the Andrew Dickson White Library and Jacques Lipchitz’s sculpture, Song of the Vowels.
