Personal Librarian

When you’re a first-year undergraduate student, a big research university like Cornell can seem like a confusing, overwhelming place. But, with help from Cornell University Library, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Our Personal Librarian program pairs selected first-year students with library experts who stay in touch throughout the year and help in different ways, including:

  • Introducing you to library resources and answering your questions about them.
  • Assisting you in finding articles, books, and other information sources, especially if you get stuck on an assignment.
  • Connecting you with librarians from a variety of subject backgrounds.
  • Connecting you with resources across campus that are vital to your well-being and academic success.

How are Personal Librarians assigned to students?

Personal Librarians are assigned to first-year students who have identified as first-generation college students. If you think you should be paired with a Personal Librarian but you haven’t received an email from one, please contact us at personal-librarian@cornell.edu.
